The major problem is that strategic planners often get tripped up by spending time on relatively inconsequential items, which come from a fixation on distractions that are found in Numbers, Paper, Money, People, and Change. Instead, strategic planners need to focus on the priorities of Questions, Issues and Actions. The book provides a strong rationale for why strategic planning is a critical function nobody else in business can offer, provided it is free from the deadly distractions and focused on the proper priorities.
