Using the boxing metaphor, in which each chapter is a round, Professor A.L.I. takes his readers on a brief journey through the life of Muhammad Ali and elucidates what he represented as a human being and a Muslim. He juxtaposes this with the representations of Islam most familiar to the reader living in post-9/11 America or beyond and reconciles them, and showcases what Islam truly is, just as Muhammad Ali did in life and continues to do so in memory.
