Jack Diamond is a young man living the good life in Los Angeles. He has money in his pocket, gas in his car and lots of drugs in his system. His life spins out of control as he becomes absorbed in the rave scene. What was once a harmless habit of smoking weed has turned into weekly two-day benders involving ecstasy, crystal meth and a veritable pharmacy of prescription medications.
His life spins out of control and is slammed with an arrest and several felony charges. Rescued by his parents, he is forced to drop out of school as he moves back to the suburbs to sober up.
Appearing to be, "scared straight," he heads back to Los Angeles nearly a year later to finish school and get on with life, only to fall into the same trap, yet again. Realizing that there may be deeper forces at work, he yearns for a way out.
At a chance meeting on campus, he has an unlikely encounter with a Chassidic rabbi who invites him to a weekly Shabbat dinner. Ethnically Jewish but otherwise nonpracticing, Jack meets an ex-IDF soldier. Upon hearing dramatic tales of military missions, he begins the journey necessary to immigrate to Israel.
But it is not an easy thing to pick up and leave your family, your friends and your home country of twenty two years. Along the way he is faced with struggles that test his sanity and determination to lead a better life.

SAMPLE CHAPTER
I’m lying in bed and my phone rings. I decided I wasn’t going to answer it. Rings all the way through to voicemail. Thirty seconds later, starts ringing again. Now, it’s midnight, okay? Who the heck is calling me at midnight on a Tuesday? I couldn’t see the caller ID because of the damn eye shields, so I just pick up:
“Hello?”
It was Danielle. She starts talking the most shit ever on the phone. Let me see if I can remember it.
She goes, “What the F*** is your problem?”
“What? Danielle…”
“No, seriously, what the f*** is wrong with you? Why are you posting people’s PRIVATE CONVERSATIONS all over a f***ing Myspace page for everyone to see? I didn’t even read the whole thing, I just read the one about me. I never would have smoked with you if I thought you’d post it on Myspace for the whole world to see! Oh my GOD!”
Oops! I go, “Danielle, I just like to write down everything that happens to me, so I’ll remember it later.”
She’s like, “Oh, REALLY? There’s illegal shit in there! You’re talking about smoking weed! You know how you were CALLING me and TEXTING me for those few days there? What if I came over to your house one of those nights? Huh? Would you have written about THAT too?”
