    About

Although the Reverend John Kirk has called Charles Wesley, “the poet of Methodism,” this sobriquet is actually too constricted. Charles Wesley, who lived from 1707 until 1788, may also be called the “poet of Christianity.” His hymns have long been appreciated and enjoyed by numerous Christian denominations. Wesley is also known as “the Asaph of the Methodist Church" after Asaph, King David's choir leader, (Psalms 73-83). Charles Wesley wrote over 6,000 hymns, many of which are beloved to the present day. This book gives a thumbnail sketch of Wesley’s life, and then proceeds to discuss his poetry and hymns. This is a short, but inspirational book specially formatted for the electronic reader and has added illustrations and annotations.
