The Last Minyan in Havana is the story of the Jews of Cuba, from the years that preceded WWII to the Castro revolution. Based on a true story, the book follows the life of a Jewish immigrant who leaves his home in Poland to find his fortune in Havana, where he finds a new life, but the tragedy of the SS St. Louis will mark him forever. The story is played out against the vibrant rhythm of the 40s and 50s, when Hollywood stars made Havana their playground, and the betrayal of the communist revolution which brought to an abrupt end democratic Cuba and its thriving Jewish community. This second edition updates US relations with Cuba and follows Haim's family after they emigrate to the United States.
