Gonz Chua Remembers:
This book is an account of four generations of Chuas in search of a better life from the late 1800’s to the present. It starts with my great grandfather's life in rural southern China followed by my grandfather, who was a literati but became impoverished due to a change of government and revolution. He died from lack of medical care. That led to my father’s decision to migrate to the Philippines where my family endured the Japanese invasion and occupation. Included are stories of our family’s struggle for a better life and survival after the war and my education and migration to the United States. Through the opportunity offered by this country, I was able to reach the maximum of my potential as a physician–educator and raised a family in peace and prosperity.
