INTRODUCTION & PRELUDE
September 2012
With the 600th anniversary of the founding of the University of St Andrews being celebrated in 2013, this revised version of the life of Alexander Berry is dedicated to this great benefactor and to honour his legacy of £100,000.00 a little more than a century ago.
Next year will see the release of an anniversary film entitled EVER TO EXCEL as the translation of the University’s Greek motto ΑΙΕΝ ΑΡΙΣΤΕΥΕΙΝ. This is a film of reminiscences and gratitude in celebration by Murray Grigor and Hamid Shams and has embedded a haunting excerpt about Alexander Berry and his Australian settlement.
