    About

The Eberle Brothers is based on the true story of three special men who adopted my father and in time became my families surrogate grandfathers.
Milt, John and Erv Eberle were orphaned when their family died of smallpox. They carried the deep poke marks all of their lives, but were three of the sweetest men you will ever meet.
They were placed in a work house in Milwaukee Wisconsin and would have been separated, but John the oldest of the three who was 16 years old at the time gathered up his eleven year old brother Milt and eight month old brother Erv and hopped a freight train bound for St. Paul Minnesota.
Life was hard for children during the early 1900’s but John honored his mother’s final request to keep his brothers together and in time both Milt and John fought on the European battle fields during WW-1. Erv turned 18 only weeks before the end of WW-1.
Both Milt and John were badly wounded and returned to St. Paul where they later saved my father’s life and adopted him as their own.
The book gives a glimpse into the lives of children at the mercy of a harsh social network before laws were put into place to protect the innocent and less fortunate.
This book is the second book of a two book series and is set in the time period extending from the late 1800’s to the 1930’s. Throw Away Children is the first book set in the 1920’s and early 1930’s.
