    About

Worzel Gummidge - A very special scarecrow, written by Gary Wharton, is the very first publication to detail the cult, late-70s/ early-80s telly series Worzel Gummidge, starring former Dr Who favourite Jon Pertwee.

The work covers all 4 series of the show made in the UK between 1979-1981 and also documents, for the first time, the 2 series made in New Zealand in the mid-1980s.
Taking each series individual, the author detals every episode, offers insights from fans, cast memebers and those that worked on the show.
Worzel Gummidge - A very special scarecrow will bring back many memories to those that remember the grumpy, walking-talking scarecrow and his adventures with children Jon & Sue, forever thawrted in his love for upppity Aunt Sally (played by Sherlock’s Una Stubbs) and shadowed by the mysterious Crowman (as portrayed by Catweazle star Geffrey Bayldon). The book also succeds in introducing new fans to the unique character that was a certain Worzel Hedgerow Gummidge.
Author Gary Wharton, 43, is an established writer, having published work including film and sports projects. Gary grew up watching Worzel Gummidge, “I loved the show as a child,” offers the author from his Cardiff home, “And watching it again recently, it really holds up well. It’s funny, has some great, familiar faces in it and allows itself to repeated viewing.” In closing, Gary enjoyed working on the project. “It was a pleasure to write about Worzel and I am pleased to offer the first guide to the show and all things relating to it. During the course of working on the project, I have spoken to many people and the all hold a real affection for the show even after all these years. Worzel has been around for a long time now and is ripe for being rediscovered.”
