This book is a reflection of love through the eyes of a student. Although still just a novice, I consider myself to be love’s apprentice. I have noticed tremedous changes in myself. In my last collection Pressing, Pulling, Breathing, We Live, I was writing through a lot of pain. It was my cathartic release. Today I am writing from a much more loving place. The Untitled Works of Love’s Apprentice was written with much more appreciation for the life that I am priviledged to have.
It is prudent that we continue to expose ourselves to new ideas. It is important that we continue to challenge our minds and seek the truth. It is also important to be compassionate to the fact that everybody’s truth is different. By accepting the values of our ancestors without questioning whether they are beneficial to us as a collective community, we are creating our experiences through the values of others. This, to me, is sin.
A word of advice - Never stop dreaming. Don’t look to
duplicate past successes, but create new ones. Don’t be in too much of a rush to get to where you are going. You will get there. Walk. Take the time to enjoy the little things - the quiet times. Pay attention. Learn. Be appreciative for what is. Read. Express yourself creatively. Seek inspiration.
In doing these things I have created these works. It is my hope that these words can bless you as much as they have blessed me.
