This guide was inspired by many conversations over the years with models and their experiences with photographers. Time and again I was surprised by how often the same things came up.
While many of these ideas will seem like common sense, for whatever reasons, models tell me that photographers can often forget their common sense and decency. And this applies to both new and very experienced photographers.
As a new photographer you may have no idea of some of the protocols and procedures that are expected of you. You will also learn what you can do to get the best from your models.
For experienced photographers you will find ways of tuning and enhancing your interaction in the studio and creating stunning images.
Lastly, we have to understand that our perspective on a photo shoot is very different than that of the models. So I have taken care to reach out to the model communities to get there input. I’m a guy in his 50’s, I really have no chance of actually understanding what a 20 year old woman’s experience and requirements are.
