    About

"The painter of light"; this is how Joaquin Sorolla, one of the most important figures in the history of Spanish art and one of the most internationally famous painters of his time, is notorious because this artist was capable to capture light and movement in his art like none other. He was out-shined in the painting of portraits, landscapes, and monumental works of social and historical themes. His most characteristic paintings are described by a skilful depicting of the people in bold landscape under the sunlight of his native Valencia. In his paintings we will find rural landscapes, fishing customs from the Mediterranean coast, social scenes, portraits... They have all got somewhat in common: warmth and sensitivity that will engage our emotions.
