Pan American World Airways is still alive and well in the hearts and minds of many of her former flight attendants. I flew for Pan Am for twelve years, around the world and back again, with a lot of crazy people. And those were just my fellow flight attendants. Passengers were sometimes a little crazy, too.
The title is a play on words from the musical, The Roar of the Greasepaint and the Smell of the Crowd. You could turn my title around, and it would still be true, but occasionally I try not to offend. Unlike the unwashed.
Flight attendant stories are a lot of fun. A few former Pan Am flight attendants found some of my memories controversial and outrageous. I'm proud to say I was banned, just like Lenny Bruce, from a 'crew party' forum, for reminiscing about something that a little old lady in the group didn't feel should be discussed.
