Each Lil' Red Waggin' book teaches children to read those 'sight words' required by all US public school systems beginning at the kindergarten level.
Each volume has its own set of highlighted sight words. These words are among the most commonly-used words in the English language and those words that don't fit into the sound-out method of reading (phonics).
It's best to start with volume one, 'Lil' Red Waggin' Goes to Seattle' then go forward to volume two and so on, building your child's confidence as she or he learns to recognize the highlighted words.
