We travelled from Edinburgh through England, Spain and France to Italy then home through Germany, Holland, Belgium. I hadn't realised the route was so interesting until I chanced upon it. France still uses a Colosseum built by the Romans for blood sports. Why was Pope Innocent so vicious ? The Dutch as usual annoyed me with their cleverness.
The 'dragons' are the lorries that chased us through alpine tunnels gnawing at the top box with a hissing snarl of their air brakes.
We only had two weeks, if the mood takes you to stuff the panniers, jump on your bike, fill the tank and head south then you might avoid some of our blunders and alter your route for some of these sights.
