    About

After winning the first two Premier League titles, Manchester United were looking to make a hat-trick of successes in the 1994/95 season. Their main challenge was expected to come from Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United. Both teams were managed by men who knew the feeling of lifting the title.

Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan had won three First Division titles while playing for Liverpool in the 1970s and had also won the Bundesliga while playing in Germany with Hamburger SV.

While Blackburn manager Kenny Dalglish had also tasted success league success with Liverpool as a player and manager. Blackburn were backed by lifelong supporter and local benefactor Jack Walker who since taking control of the club in the early 1990’s had provided the funds to break the British transfer record and would do so again as Blackburn looked for their first top-flight success in over 100 years.

While at the bottom of the league we would see four teams relegation from the Premier League at the end of season as the league prepared to be reduced from 22 to 20 teams for the start of the 1995/96 season.
