    About

A retired Royal Naval Physical Training Instructor and Field Gunner, Ges Laker traded in his affluent suburban lifestyle to fulfil a life-long dream. At the time, more men had walked on the moon than had completed this epic walk. His journey took him around the entire coastline of the United Kingdom with just his faithful Labradors, Phoebe and Sumo and a 100lb back pack.
Raising thousands of pounds for his adopted charity ‘Blind Veterans UK’, he endured extreme physical and mental pain, met some wonderful people, witnessed sights denied to the average tourist and felt compelled to visit as many pubs as possible (purely for fundraisings sake of course).
During thirteen months of hardship Ges was both amazed by the beauty of these islands, and humbled by the generosity of strangers. He trained for the physical hardships of the challenge, but nothing could prepare him for the way it changed his outlook on life.
Why on earth would any man give up his comfortable home, friends and business to become a tramp? To live in a tent through two of the severest winters in recent memory, suffering hunger, loneliness, injury and more? Read on and spend a year with Ges Laker, a man who did precisely that.
