    About

If you are interested in betting on the exchanges, then you should read this book.
It sets out strategies for betting to win and laying on horse races. The author is an accountant and has spent over 10 years betting to win and laying on the exchanges, primarily Betfair.
My mission was to develop a scheme based purely on analysis, avoiding the need to laboriously study form or rely on lucky results. I wanted an approach that was based on logic; one that would be easily repeatable. I started by purchasing data for over 18,000 races covering a period of 3 years. The data showed price movements for every horse in every race, from 5 minutes before the off right through to the finish. The 5 minute point is generally where most of the money starts to appear and activity commences before every horse race.
This book doesn't contain claims that if you follow any of the strategies I describe you will inevitably win money. However it does describe many approaches, one or more of which may work for you. Maybe my experiences and insights will provide you with a germ of an idea, an idea that with modification you might develop into a winning scheme.
Why did I write this book setting out my analysis and experiences? Well, I'm an accountant which makes me naturally risk averse. So although I found many schemes that worked for a period, sometimes weeks, sometimes months, as soon as I encountered an unexpected result, I started to question my analysis and my hypotheses and to conclude that this was not the scheme for me. I realised that I hate risks and am definitely not a gambler - and that I needed absolute certainty to follow any scheme. And I also realised that to capitalise on my analysis I really needed to be a (controlled) gambler - a person who is willing to take risks.
I hope that you find this book stimulating - and that it triggers some ideas that can be followed successfully. Good luck!
