Launched in 1959 to a market hungry for glamour, the Triumph Bonneville was soon to achieve fame on both track and screen. With its mix of sparkling performance and vibrant good looks, the iconic 'Bonnie' did much to set the style for the sixties. The ebook Triumph Bonneville Year by Year charts the early history of Triumph Motorcycles prior to the birth of the Bonneville before chronicling in detail the year-by-year design and development of Triumph's 'Leader of The Pack'. Using archive photographs and period illustrations, the book gives concise insights on the state of the motorcycle industry of the day and goes on to provide detailed specifications and photographs of Triumph's current 2012 range of Bonnevilles.
    · Covers the history of the Bonneville from its pre-war origins
    · Detailed year-by-year specifications
    · Fully illustrated throughout
    · ‘State of the industry’ sections for every year covered
    · Includes information on the current Triumph Bonneville

Introduced to an excited public as the austere fifties faded, the Triumph Bonneville, more than any other motorcycle, brought an element of glamour to everyday travel, perhaps even adding a little swing of its own to the sixties. Taking its name from the Bonneville Salt Flats, where American Johnny Allen, riding a Triumph, became the fastest man on two wheels, the Bonneville seized the imagination of a generation.

Triumph Bonneville - Year By Year charts the bike’s success and shows how it lifted the profile of Triumph at home and abroad. The ultimate refinement of Edward Turner’s inspired Speed Twin of 1938, the powerful Bonneville quickly became the motorcycle of choice for the aspiring young male - truly a bike with attitude.

Later, less welcome media attention focused on Triumph. In September 1973 the Meriden factory was occupied by striking workers objecting to the threatened closure of the plant. The workforce went on to form a workers cooperative which, with government help, bought out the factory and continued production of the now old-fashioned T140 Bonneville. Many believed this would damage the prospects of the Triumph T150 Trident, produced at the Small Heath plant. The hero had turned villain.

Tracing Triumph’s progress from its earliest days, Triumph Bonneville - Year By Year details the development of this iconic motorcycle through its long production life. It covers the machine’s early development and subsequent sales success, before moving on to see how the current model, made by the new Triumph company in Hinckley, measures up to the original Bonneville design brief.

Detailed technical specifications for each model year of the Bonneville's history are set against the contemporary industrial environment and the commercial climate in which the British motorcycle industry struggled to survive. The text is supported throughout by quality illustrations, rare archive photographs and early advertising material.

Long-time motoring enthusiast Paul Hazeldine has been riding motorcycles since he was fourteen. His earliest mounts included machines salvaged from the local tip and ridden illicitly around nearby fields and tracks. Having survived the hazards of youthful motorcycling he readily acknowledges the life-saving road sense and riding skills passed on (just in time) through the excellent RAC/ACU motorcycle training scheme.

In later life Paul has worked as a writer and broadcaster covering a wide range of topics for magazines, newspapers and radio.
