    About

    Simple to read and easy to follow, this short book is a must for anyone wishing to learn how to carry out basic electrical jobs at home safely and efficiently.

    The book is divided into sections - each one containing important information and sensible tips. The book is well structured and very easy to follow, even for the biggest novice.

    Before examining each of these tips, we look at the reasons why traditionally people are afraid of doing their own electrical work even though electricians are very expensive. There are, however, certain things that can be carried out safely by non-professionals.

    The first section of this well written book deals with safety. Do you believe there’s anything more important than safety?

    The first thing that’s looked at are the most common terms used in electricity and on electrical goods. Terms like wire, lighting, and electricity may seem simple, but terms such as AC and DC power, or GFCI are much harder to understand.

    These are explained thoroughly so that you understand what you’re reading before you start working!

    By the end of this section it is much clearer how electricity flows (current), what it flows through (wires and cables), what a series of wires is called (circuit) and what the common terms are that you need to know for beginning your own simple electrical work.

    The book discusses checking all electrical equipment to ensure that it is safe to work on. Pre-inspection is shown to be an important part of this; for example making sure that there are no trailing leads, that all extension cords are unplugged, that power, where necessary, is isolated or switched off.

    Also make sure you’re using GFCIs. Not sure what a GFCI is?
    Then you need this book!
    In the third section we look at the types of common injury caused by working on electrics without being aware of the possible dangers. You can get badly burnt, badly scarred and if the incident is serious enough even suffer from internal injuries or in extreme cases, death.

    Finally we look closely at the types of jobs that can be done safely at home, on your own.
    We are not recommending you work on anything difficult but that you should focus on two basic jobs;
    •Replacing Switches and Outlets
    •Repairing/installing an electrical fixture.
    We cover in detail how to carry out these jobs and, providing you have read the book carefully, you will be able to carry them out safely and save yourself a lot of money in the process.
    This book is the perfect introduction to those of you who are tired with spending exorbitant money on electricians. It has been written it in a simple, concise manner.
    Any beginner could do simple electrical jobs by following the content of this book
