The Old Collie

A short story by Scottish author Sandy McKay.

The old collie had been a faithful friend as well as a well trusted sheepdog for many years. Now things had changed. The shepherd had got married and there was a young child in the family. Tensions grow between the shepherd and his wife over the old collie who had spent his working and resting life in close proximity to the shepherd. A compromise is reached but one that ultimately leads to tragedy and heartache.
