Strings Series Music Books pride themselves on providing clear, concise and professional music tuition books. Our aim is to teach you what you need to know; no quick fixes and everything is presented with clear explanations, diagrams and audio.
Modes for Bass Guitar
The subject of Modes is a stumbling block for many intermediate bass guitar players. This book aims to make modes easier to understand and apply by using practical and theoretical methods. The first half of the book is dedicated to playing; there are 15 audio tracks to accompany the book- this includes 8 full length backing tracks to jam to. The second half of the book delves into some of the "hows" and "whys" to make things a little clearer.
You’ll find no nonsense explanations illustrated with clear examples and informative diagrams. There are free downloadable audio examples to accompany exercises and suggestions of real songs to learn at each stage of your development.
Here’s what you’ll learn in:
• How to play all seven major modes.
• How to play the example licks.
• You'll be able to jam the modes over backing tracks.
• How we construct the modes- the music theory.
• Why we use modes.
• How to write your own songs using the right chords for each mode.

How Big Are the Books?
A common complaint among purchasers of “How to...” eBooks is that the description didn’t really give them a clear idea of how big the books were and they are invariably disappointed.
Strings Series Music Books are around 3000-4000 words (plus many music exercises) or roughly 50 pages when formatted in Word. Obviously page sizes vary on Kindle. I’m positive you won’t feel ripped off; if you do contact Amazon for a refund!
Free Audio Downloads? How does that work?
As I write this you are currently unable to download anything other than text based files via 3G onto your Kindle. So if you’d like to take advantage of the free audio downloads visit stringsseriesmusic.co.uk on a PC or Mac and you are then free to store them on your Kindle, iPod or other music player!
Who are you?
My name is Mike Taylor and I am a musician and teacher. Much of my music book writing knowledge was gained when I wrote a syllabus for my Professional Musicianship degree. I learned even more about teaching during my two years as a fulltime music theory, guitar, bass and drum teacher. I no longer teach fulltime as I’m working more as a musician but I continue to learn from the awesome musicians I meet!
