Through an exploration of the Book of Kings, and close study of the kings and prophets, we can learn valuable lessons, both political and personal, that apply today. The Book of Kings is a tragedy, the story of the decline and fall of the ancient kingdom of the Jews. From its height in the days of David and Solomon, to its division into Israel and Judah, and to its final defeat by Assyria and Babylonia, the Israelite monarchy faced constant challenges. Many of the kings were abject failures. But there were also heroes who maintained their faith and struggled to overcome their human flaws. It is from these examples that we can draw a general series of guidelines for public policy and helpful tips for personal leadership.
