SABAT 2
1983 saw me being posted back to Merry Olde England during the days of perestroika and glasnost (It’s Russian for ‘Where has all the money gone?’) I was introduced to the latest and greatest (It’s English for ‘The most expensive’) Panavia Tornado (Groundcrew name – ‘White Man’s Magic’ read more to be further offended) Life at RAF Sleepy-Hollow, England was far too expensive to support a growing family and an alcohol addiction so it was soon time to go back to RAF Germany where the entertainment was still set to DEFCON 1, full party. It stayed that way till the wall came down and NATO had to find somewhere to dump all that cold war hardware on (Iraq). If you take ‘The King’s shilling’ you might as well take all you can get your hands on at the same time
