    About

Dampness in a dwelling can damage interior decorations, and if left untreated, can cause wet rot and dry rot, as well as respiratory problems among young children and the elderly. Research has also indicated damp can make asthma worse. Therefore it is essential to find the cause of the dampness, take remedial action to remove the cause, and repair any damage. To do this you first have to establish what is causing the dampness.

This eBook aims to describe the main forms of damp and decay in traditional two-story dwellings, flats and bungalows. The eBook will guide you through the remedies, repair and maintenance issues that can arise in relation to damp and decay in dwellings. Some of the information is shown in a variety of formats to help you digest the information more easily. Some of the causes of damp such as condensation and rising damp are sometimes quite technical, but I have made this guide simple and easy to follow especially if you have no technical knowledge to start with.

This eBook is ideal for building owners who want to know more about damp, mould and condensation. It would also be very useful for surveyors or building students.
