Born in Totton in 1938 the author was in for an unsettled life, first as a two year old evacuee when the Germans commenced bombing Southampton and then when his father's workplace was destroyed, the family moved to Arborfield near Reading. Eight years of stability followed before moving to Caversham, north of Reading and two years later to Cornwall. There he became a shipyard apprentice, a trade union official and got married. Finding himself on the dole shortly thereafter, a ride to Hinkley Point Nuclear Power Station in Somerset resulted in a construction job and for the next forty years he roamed the world, usually with Wife and kids in tow. This book describes the lives and experiences of our travelling construction man and his family in the UK, Africa, N & S America, Spain, Australia and SE Asia, until finally retiring to New Zealand.
