    About

This SEN Differentiation guide was written to supplement a SEN CPD (Continual Professional Development) programme at a mainstream inner London Secondary School. This school was rated ‘satisfactory’ when the guide was launched and the school has now rated ‘outstanding’ by OFSTED.

The guide was written for subject teachers who were overwhelmed by negative behaviours they were facing in lessons and were at a loss to implement positive strategies to assist their student’s learning journeys.

The author observed that many of their students had undiagnosed/unassisted SEN difficulties such as Dyslexia/SpLD, EBD and ADHD, but these students lacked positive ways to communicate their needs, by them choosing negative ways to pass the time in class. The teacher only saw behavioural problems, not the root cause - their lack of differentiation in their lesson planning and delivery.

This guide is aimed at (non-SEN trained) subject teachers, offering them a ‘quick problem-solving strategies’ to stop learning difficulties/differences turning into behavioural problems.

If you are looking for a problem-solving guide to assist non-SEN staff then this guide is perfect.
