Trent is a 12 year old boy who lives in the small town called Juniper. Everything seems normal until one day his entire world is flipped upside down. He got the devastating news that his best friend went to sleep the night before, but that he never woke up.
Strange things are happening in Juniper. He hears wolves howling louder and louder, even though he had never heard them before. Old man Warner, who everyone calls the town lunatic, also has some choice eerie words for Trent. He says: “This whole town is going to be ruined soon, and everything inside of you will be telling you to run away, but we both know that you are the only one with the power to stop the evils of this old town.” Trent doesn’t know what to make of this. Could the old man be right?
Soon enough, what happened to his best friend starts to happen to other kids. Trent knows something isn’t right, but no one seems to care. No one else does anything to help, and people are acting awfully strange. Something is definitely not right in this small town, where everything used to seem so ordinary.
To top everything off, dark and maniacal creatures come to him in the night, in his sleep. At first he thinks they’re just dreams, and that they’ll go away. The only problem is that they never do. They keep coming back. And they seem so real!
Who are these creatures? What do they want? Will Trent figure it all out? Will he be able to save his friends? You’ll have to read the book if you want to figure it all out. You’d better keep a flashlight by your side if you do read this one tonight – just in case!
