On 1st February 2014, James Ketchell became the first and only person to have rowed across the Atlantic Ocean, successfully summited Mount Everest and cycled 18,000 miles around the world.
Seven years prior to this, he was recovering from a serious motorcycle accident that left him with broken legs and a dislocated ankle. The prognosis was that he was likely to suffer a permanent walking impairment and would certainly not be able to continue the active physical lifestyle he had enjoyed up to that point.
In his book, James talks with candour and enthusiasm about how he responded to this challenge - well, what has so far been three challenges. He describes his approach to these extraordinary tasks, continuously setting incremental and achievable goals, and the obstacles and incidents he came up against; including a near miss with an oil tanker, frostbite and a severe lung infection on Everest.
As you read James's story, you will meet other remarkable people and hear about the part they play in his achievements. James shows that when you open yourself up to experience, great stories come to you. This is his story and theirs - and it could be yours.
